AVR Diagnostics and Replacement
Leroy Somer alternators use several AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) models including the R250, R438, R448, R449, R450, and D510C. AVR failure is one of the most common Leroy Somer issues, causing voltage instability, over-voltage, or no-output conditions. When the AREP winding fails, it requires specialized diagnosis to determine whether the auxiliary winding, exciter, rotating diodes, or AVR is at fault. Our technicians understand the AREP system thoroughly and can isolate and repair faults efficiently.
Complete Alternator Rewinding
When Leroy Somer stator or rotor windings fail from insulation breakdown, moisture damage, or overheating, we perform complete rewinding in our Brooklyn facility. We match the original winding configuration, use appropriate insulation class materials, and varnish dip and bake to ensure the rewound alternator meets or exceeds original performance specifications.
